This steel water storage tank holds 1,000,000 gallons of drinking water and water for fire protection and is located on Torringford West Street in Torrington, Connecticut. Routine inspections of the steel determined the paint coating was due for cleaning and renewal. This tank was built in 2011 and this year we will perform a complete cleaning and recoating of the tank’s interior and exterior.
Torrington Water Company has a contract for maintenance of their steel tanks and this work is being executed by Utility Services Group, one of the largest tank rehabilitation contractors in the country. The work involves the power washing and cleaning of the tanks interior and exterior and then reapplying of new paint coating that will protect the steel for a period of 20–25 years. We are estimating the rehabilitation work will be completed by the end of October 2025.
