System improvements, upgrades and projects

We are continuously working to maintain and improve the water system.  Some of the major projects we are currently working on involve the installation of new, or the replacement of existing, equipment and facilities needed to provide safe, reliable water service.

Infrastructure Projects

Water Main Replacement in Ridgefield, CT

Aquarion is replacing approximately 2,300 feet of water main in the Bennetts's Farm Rd area of Ridgefield, CT from September 2025 through June 2026.

Water Main Replacement in Bridgeport, CT

Aquarion is replacing approximately 5,000 feet of water main in the Mountford St area of Bridgeport, CT, from July 2025 through June 2026.

Little River Water Treatment Plant

Aquarion is constructing a new water treatment facility at their Bonnie Lane Wellfield.

Proposed Water Transmission Main - Hemlocks Reservoir, Fairfield to Coleytown Road, Westport

Aquarion Water Company (AWC) has been working on a long-range plan to strengthen the resiliency of the existing water system in the Fairfield County area. AWC is currently working with AECOM, a consulting engineering firm, to design a new 36-inch diameter water transmission main and the initial phase of the work is located in Fairfield and Westport.

Southwest Regional Pipeline Transmission Water Main/Eversource Gas Main - New Canaan & Wilton

Aquarion and Eversource continue to work to improve vital water and natural gas infrastructure for Wilton and New Canaan.

Torrington West Storage Tank Rehabilitation

The Torrington Water Company is rehabilitating its steel water tank with a full cleaning and repainting to ensure safe water and fire protection.

North Main Street Treatment Facility Addition

Construction will begin soon at Aquarion’s North Main Street Wellfield in Oxford to construct a new manganese removal facility.

Oak Pond Well Water Treatment Plant

Construction is underway for the new Oak Pond Well Water Treatment Plant.

West Torrington Storage Tank Rehabilitation

Torrington’s two-million-gallon steel water tank is being cleaned, recoated, and upgraded, with work expected to finish by August 2025.

Route 20 Water Main Relocation and Replacement

MassDOT is currently reconstructing Route 20 in Charlton and Oxford to improve safety and traffic flow.

Water Main Replacement in Groton - West Mystic Ave, Orchard Ln, Rowland St, and Rathbun Pl

We will be replacing 4,000 feet of main beginning in September 2024 on West Mystic Avenue, Rathbun Place, Orchard Lane, and Rowland Street in Mystic, CT.

Tank Improvement Project in Hampton, NH: Exeter Road

Aquarion Water Company is proposing to construct a new water storage tank to replace the existing water storage tank located on Falcone Circle in Hampton, NH.

Route 1A Hampton-Seabrook Bridge Project

The NHDOT is in the process of replacing the Hampton Harbor Bridge which spans the Hampton Harbor connecting the Towns of Hampton and Seabrook.

Main Replacement in Stratford, CT: South Avenue and Hamilton Avenue

We will be replacing 2,860 feet of main on South Ave and Hamilton Ave beginning on April 15th, 2024. Work is expected to be completed by July of 2024.

Main Replacement in Stamford, CT: Elmcroft Road

We will be replacing 1,900 feet of main beginning in May 2024 on Elmcroft Road.

Main Replacement in Simsbury, CT: Red Stone Dr, Andrew Dr, Harriet Ln, Top View Dr, Hilltop Dr, Butternut Ln, Alder Rd

We will be replacing 14,610 ft of main on Red Stone Dr, Andrew Dr, Harriet Ln, Top View Dr, Hilltop Dr, Butternut Ln, and Alder Rd in Simsbury. Work is expected to be completed by October 2024.

Main Replacement in Greenwich, CT: Greenwich Avenue

We will be replacing 2,000 feet of main on Greenwich Ave beginning in February 2024.
